WHAT IS A HABITAT?:
A habitat is a place where people and animals live.
Zoos recreate habitats for their animals to live in.

WHAT IS IN A HABITAT?:
There are different kinds of habitats but most need the following:

Trees, water, plants, grass, food, shelter and a place to work.

Compost

COMPOST

WHAT IS COMPOST?
Compost is a key ingredient in organic farming but it can be used by home gardeners.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR COMPOST:
All ingredients are at home.
LEAVES – From raking fall leaves.
FOOD SCRAPS – Can only be vegetables or fruit.
WATER
AIR
SUN

HOW TO MAKE A COMPOST PILE:
-Choose a place or container
-Throw the leaves and food scraps in it
-Put water in it
AND
-Let it bake

HOW DOES IT WORK?:
As you put more leaves and food scraps in the pile, it will start to decompose.
Eventually it will decompose enough and it will look like fine dirt that you can use in your garden.

WHY IS IT GOOD FOR YOUR GARDEN?:
It is good for your garden because:
Your using natural, healthy stuff that's rich with nutrients on your plants that has no chemicals.

WHY IS IT GOOD FOR YOUR ENVIORNMENT?:
Your not throwing it away and its not going to a landfill.

WHY DOES IT SMOKE?:
The process of the composting make it heat up and then adding the water makes it steam.
